Detroit Historic Resource Survey
Detroit, MI
The Detroit Historic Resource Survey project completed a survey of nearly 18,000 historic properties in just two weeks during January 2014 using smartphones and volunteers. The goal of this survey was to help the Detroit Land Bank Authority make strategic demolition decisions using $52 million dollars in Hardest Hit Fund demolition money by providing a preservation perspective where there otherwise would have be none. It was a precedent-setting project in the partnerships we developed, the rapidness of completion, scope of what we were able to cover, as well as the use of smart technology to do it.
This model project received extensive press, including: Michigan Radio, Next City, the National Trust, Architizer, or the Craig Fahle Show.
