Bait Ibrahim Hashem: A Documentation Report

Amman, Jordan (Summer 2009)

As one of seven students selected by Columbia University, I documented and researched the historic house of the first Prime Minister of Jordan. We generated an extensive report that included an architectural description, building typology history, and planning context within the neighborhood.

Specifically, I authored the conservation components of the document, including a conditions assessment report, conditions glossary, and conducted material analysis of wood, stone, paint, and mortar samples using x-ray diffraction and polarized light microscopy.

Additionally, I conducted and wrote an oral history of the last remaining child of the prime minister and some of their extended family. The report was published and has been adopted by the Mayor and the Municipality of Amman to serve as a guide to caring for this historic property.

You can read the report here.
